About me
Life's a beach
My name's Dan Oliver, and I'm a UK-based journalist with 10 years of experience under my belt. For six years I worked on various Internet titles, after which time I edited a digital photo magazine. Having redesigned Practical Web Design magazine at the start of 2006, I then moved on to my current position as editor of .net magazine.I have written for a number of magazines and newspapers including the Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United Magazine, T3, PC Format, Mac Format, the Institute of Directors Magazine, and many more. More recently I've written an internet tips book for Rotovision, which was published in 2008. You can find samples of my written work by visiting the Published Work section, and if you'd like to get in touch then you can email me at journo@gmail.com. I'm a GTD fan, so if it's going to take me less than two minutes, the chances are that you'll get a quick reply. Maybe.
Whilst working at Future Publishing I have received two in-house awards: the Journalist of the Year Award (2001), and Best Practical Feature (2004).Two of the articles that contributed to these awards were Cheating Scum and Cantenna Power. More recently, in 2008 .net magazine was shortlisted at the PPA Awards in the International Consumer Magazine of the Year category, and was Highly Commended.
